Vela Bay is nestled at the western end of the much sought-after Bayshore neighbourhood, bordered by Bayshore Road, Bayshore Drive, and the East Coast Parkway (ECP), a major expressway. 

The relatively new Bayshore MRT on the Thomson-East Coast Line is not just a short stroll away; it is literally next door.

This means that MRT travel times from Vela Bay are incredibly convenient, cutting the commute to Shenton Way down to 25 minutes, and Orchard Road is about 30 minutes away. 

For drivers, the ECP on-ramp is immediate, making Marina Bay Sands roughly 15 minutes off-peak and Changi Airport about 10 minutes away. In addition, the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) is accessible via Bedok South Avenue 3, connecting to the western and northern corridors.

One small drawback is that, as of now, there are no major malls within a short walking distance. The nearest, Bedok Mall, is 3.2km north, and Parkway Parade is 5.4km west, which means residents have to drive or take public transportation for a full grocery run or shopping therapy.

However, for smaller purchases like day-to-day essentials, there are several minimarts and neighbourhood shops along East Coast Road, a short stroll away. 

Retail options will continue to be limited until the Bayshore Drive Integrated Development is completed, which will provide residents with 22,300 sqm of retail and commercial space.
